10 Tips for Relaxation

Here is a list of things you can do to help relax the mind, body and soul.

"It's a good idea always to do something relaxing prior to making an important decision in your life." — Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage

The relaxation list

  1. Chiropractic. An adjustment can help shift the body from a stress (sympathetic) state back to a relaxed (parasympathetic) state.
  2. Breathe. Controlling your breathing is a simple way to slow the heart, rest the mind and calm the soul. One of my favorites: five slow diaphragmatic breaths (imagine breathing all the way into your toes), each in for a count of five and out for a count of five.
  3. Nature. Feeling a connection with nature is incredibly grounding.
  4. "I'm sorry." Forgiving yourself and others is a great way to relax and release tension.
  5. Nap time. Take a quick 15–20 minute refresher nap during the day.
  6. "Thank you." Write thank-you notes, and say thank you to the universe, to yourself and to others.
  7. Tea. Take a few moments to make herbal or mint tea and enjoy it quietly with no screen time, which leads me to…
  8. Move. Stretching, dancing, walking and running stimulate brain activity and circulate oxygenated blood.
  9. Meditation. Like breathing exercises, but a step further: it helps you visualize and set intentions in a calm, meditative state.
  10. No screens. Put the phone, tablet or computer away when you feel the urge to check social media or scroll. Try something from this list instead.

Thank you, and welcome to your LIFE!
